Places I Want To Go Someday

New York

I was lucky enough to grow up in Europe, relatively close to so many other countries and cultures. My family always enjoyed and valued seeing other parts of the world, and as kids my parents dragged my brother and me all over Western Europe. I have experienced more than one authentic German Christmas market, I’ve snowboarded the Alps in Austria, stepped inside the Sagrada Familia, and I have practically seen every inch of France.

I enjoy travelling! I wouldn’t say I love it, and I do tend to find other things to save up for and spend money on first, but I definitely have some destinations I dream of visiting someday. These are some of the ones at the top of my list.

I mean, it just seems so cool! I had a layover in Reykjavik when I came to America back in April, and the landscape looks breathtaking from the plane. I love the outdoors and from what I’ve heard and seen, Iceland offers some of the most magical landscapes on earth. I would love to go hiking, rent a car and just drive around, visit the Blue Lagoon, eat sushi (I hear its phenomenal), and practice my photography of course. Oh and I wouldn’t hate to see the northern lights either!

I expect I will be flying with Icelandair when I visit my home country, so I imagine that a couple days in Iceland might very well be the first of this list to be realized in the near future.

The US is so big and there are so many places I want to visit but California is definitely among the first ones on my list. It interests me because the West coast seems so different than the East coast (you might actually consider the part of Virginia that I live in to be pretty southern even). I would love to see the bay area, San Francisco city, and Silicon Valley, as well as the redwood trees, Los Angeles, Hollywood, and the beaches of Orange County (loved that show, ha!)

As luck would have it, my sister-in-law and her husband live in the San Francisco Bay Area! I am hoping to be able to visit them sometime and check this one off my list.

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much of Italy. I would love to drive through the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany and visit Florence. I mean, can you dream up a more stunning city?! Next up would be Rome and its colosseum, the Trevi fountain, and Vatican City. And the food! I would eat all the food. My last stop would Naples for some pizza, and heck! Let’s throw in Pompeii while we’re there. I seriously hope I will one day get to take the exact trip described above.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever actually take this trip, because taking a 13 hour flight across an ocean is not on my list of favorite things. At all. But gosh, it does seem pretty darn cool doesn’t it?

The Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles

I am a Disney kid. When I was young, we went to Disneyland Paris a couple of times. Just a couple! It’s not like we went five times… Don’t judge. We just really like Disney. It really is the most magical place on earth.

I can’t wait (I say “can’t wait” because it will definitely happen someday soon) to go to Disneyworld! Even better, I would love to one day take my children there a couple times as well.

So there you have it…

As you can tell, I’m not a very adventurous traveller. Most exotic and/or far away destinations don’t appeal to me that much.

My favorite place on earth so far is New York City. There’s something about that place… I just felt right at home. I wonder if any of the destinations on this list will ever top the big apple. I hope to find out someday!

We have a very comfortable queen size air mattress and an extra bathroom. Of course, you’d have to put up with Show and Tell with Brandon, but I think still might be worth visiting. Maybe next summer? 🙂
